More than 30 city parks and play areas offer facilities for everything from soccer and baseball to basketball, racquetball and tennis. Families can enjoy playgrounds, picnic areas with barbecues, a skate park and four public swimming pools, including one with a water slide. The various pools offer swimming lessons, water aerobics, family swim nights and special events throughout the summer. Other city-sponsored activities include the 4th of July Spectacular, Summer Concerts in the Park, the Scarecrow Fall Festival and winter holiday events. Fontana is also home to 12 San Bernardino County regional parks and the beautiful Sierra Lakes Golf Club.

Boasting a number of California Distinguished Schools, Fontana Unified School District is dedicated to helping all students earn high achievement and prepare to be productive citizens. Advanced technology resources, specialized programs such as GATE, advantageous pupil/teacher ratios in primary grades, ongoing teacher training and parental involvement all contribute to the district's success. Nearly a dozen colleges and universities are nearby, including UC Riverside, Cal State San Bernardino, Loma Linda University, the University of Redlands and San Bernardino Valley College.

There's abundant shopping within easy reach, highlighted by the Ontario Mills Shopping Center, with its exceptional variety of shops, restaurants, movies and entertainment. Additional shops and shopping centers are situated along Foothill Boulevard including the Victoria Gardens outdoor shopping plaza. Only moments away are the thrills and chills of NASCAR at the California Speedway and the minor league baseball excitement of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Fontana's Civic Auditorium is a 1,000-seat auditorium and arts center dedicated to cultural enrichment in the areas of music, film, dance and theater.
